lost and found

(16 Dec. 2011)

Never mind social networking, research, multi-user gaming, convenient shopping, and entertainment media.

What makes the internet so freaking awesome is that, given the right prompting, it will find information on pretty much ANYTHING you've EVER heard of--even when you have very few details on it. Speaking personally, few things irritate me more than having an answer on the tip of my tongue but being completely unable to access the memory in full. You know you'll recognize it as soon as you see it, but you can't dredge up enough information from the depths of dead memories to find it.

As is my habit, I remembered something from Way Back When (TM) for no reason today. I probably haven't seen or thought about this book in about fifteen years. I have NO idea what brought it up in my mind but I suddenly remembered a book I used to like as a kid and I could only remember a little bit of it and didn't know what the title was. I knew it was out there somewhere but I didn't remember many details about it--at least, not enough to run a successful Google search the first few times. I remembered it was about a princess who rode a motorbike and scared princes away by being awesome. I FINALLY managed to figure out what it was and as soon as I saw the title my reaction was, "OH YEAH, OF COURSE!!"

The book was Princess Smartypants by Babette Cole. I remember it being a popular book when I was little but it seems quite unknown in the US. Anyone from the UK remember it?
