George Carlin once pointed out that no matter how good or bad a driver you are and no matter what you're doing on the road, everyone--regardless of what they're doing--is either a maniac or an idiot. Everyone going slower than you is an idiot and infuriates you; everybody going faster is a maniac, and infuriates you. The man was right. I am more convinced than ever that all the problems on the road can be traced back to the same source: other drivers.
Now, the way I go to work is usually pretty choked with traffic (the alternative is to take a different route that almost doubles the distance), so it can take me an hour just to go the fifteen miles. Like it did today. But when I get off of work and go home (usually anywhere between 10pm and 2am), I can get home in twenty minutes. The difference? There's NO ONE on the road that late/early. I might see a total of ten cars the entire way.
Obviously life could be so much easier if everyone else was forbidden to drive.
